SUKKUR: Two women killed

SUKKUR, May 29: Two women were shot dead follwing a domestic dispute in village Chandan Umrani, near Garhi Khairo, late on Saturday night. Its has reported that Ali Dost Khorkhani had quarrelled with his wife Nusrat, 22, and aunt Mussarat, 30, and opened fire, killing the two on the spot and fled.

Abdul Karim, father of Nusrat, has registered a case with the Miranpur police station against his son-in-law Ali Dost.

PROTEST: Hundreds of activists of different political, social and religious parties took out a procession and staged a sit-in at the Rehbar Chowk in Thull on Sunday.

They were protesting against the failure of police in arresting the killers of two Hesco employees.

On the call of the Shahree Ittehad, protesters led by Noonari Welfare Association chief Akhtiar Noonari, Shahree Ittehad president Ali Hassan Buriro and Abdul Aziz Buriro took out the procession from Jungal More.

Marching through main roads and chanting slogans against the police, the protesters reached the Rehbar Chowk where they staged a sit-in and blocked traffic for three hours.

Speaking on the occasion, their leaders said police had failed to arrest the killers of two Hesco employees, Haji Arib Noonari and More Noonari.

They warned of launching a strong protest movement throughout the country if police did not arrest the culprits within a week time.

STRIKE: A complete strike was observed in Sultankot on Sunday against the behaviour of local police.

On the call of a shopkeepers’ association, a procession was taken out. The protesters also staged a sit-in.
