Shoaib Akhtar joins camp

Published May 30, 2006

LAHORE, May 29: All speculations about fast bowler Shoaib Akhtar were over when he joined the conditioning camp at Qadhafi Stadium on Monday after remaining absent for four days. Shoaib, however, left the camp half an hour before finish of the first session of practice.

“The skipper will inform you about exact position of my fitness,” Shoaib told reporters.

Captain Inzamamul Haq said the express bowler was facing an ankle problem.

He said it was a new injury which had no link with Shoaib's previous injury that occurred during the home series against India.

The factual position about his fitness would be determined after receiving MRI reports, the skipper said.

Inzamam said that training in the camp would not aggravate Shoaib's ankle problem.
