SAHIWAL, June 6: After being informed that Rs7.4 million were allocated for a private school under the district community board, the district assembly witnessed an uproar on Tuesday.

The district assembly session which started under its convener Malak Muhammad Faisal Langrial was interrupted when many members opposed the allocation in a harsh manner. However, the session resumed again when the grant was deferred.

The house was told that 30 teachers were removed from service and 34 suspended for remaining absent from their duty. A committee was also constituted to check the presence of the teachers in the schools.

A member, Iftikhar Khan, told the house that incidents of robbery were rampant in Noorshah area, on which the house suggested increase in police patrolling there.

The assembly approved the appointment of 25 new medical officers, besides purchase of Rs23 million medicines for the DHQ hospital’s emergency ward. A committee was also approved to ensure judicious use of medicines by the hospital authorities.

The house also approved recovery of dues from 19 defaulting contractors of the district government.

The assembly asked the traffic police to not to challan the farmers bringing their produce to the market on their tractors.

A summer camp was approved at the local Divisional Public School.

The members protested the disconnection of electricity of the district council rest house.
