Heavy rain in Sialkot

SIALKOT, Feb 7: The Sialkot district received first heavy rain of the winter early on Thursday morning.

The local Met office has forecast more rains in both Sialkot and Narowal districts during the next 24 hours.

THREE INDIANS HURT: The Chenab Rangers thwarted two more Indian attempts of fencing near Chhumb and Akhnour sectors of the working boundary here on Thursday morning, causing heavy defensive loss to the enemy.

Official sources confirmed that three Indian armymen were injured seriously during retaliation by the Chenab Rangers near Akhnour sector, as the Indian security forces continued firing on border villages in Bajwat, Chhumb, Charwa, Harpal, Sucheetgarh, Akhnour and Shakargarh sectors.

Meanwhile, a Pakistani villager was injured seriously by Indian firing in Jarwal village of the working boundary’s Charwa sector on Thursday evening.

Shabbir, 40, was sitting in the courtyard of his house when some bullets fired by Indian troops hit him, injuring him seriously. He was admitted to the local CMH in critical condition.

PROTEST: The Jamaat-i-Islami and the Shabab-i-Milli will stage a protest rally on Friday against the detention of Qazi Husain Ahmad.

According to a JI press release issued here on Thursday, the rally will be held at Allama Iqbal Chowk, Sialkot city.

LOOTED: Three dacoits looted cash, gold ornaments and valuables worth Rs300,000 from the house of a State Life Insurance Corporation area manager in Muhallah Raiwala, Daska Kalan, on Thursday.

Dacoits forced their entry into the house of Azeem Butt and made off with the booty.

In Glotian Kalan village, Daska Saddar, thieves broke into five shops on Wednesday night and took away valuables.

On the Daska-Seokey-Motra Road, two armed men snatched a motorcycle from Abid Husain.

KILLED: One Liaqat Ali was killed allegedly by his wife, Tasneem Bibi, over a domestic issue in Adalatgarh village, Ugoki, on Thursday.

A labourer, Saleem, was slaughtered by some unidentified assailants in his house in Muhallah Islampura, Pasrur Road, Daska city, late on Wednesday night.
