HYDERABAD, June 15: Karachi athletes maintained their domination by picking up more gold medals in different disciplines of men and women on Thursday.

Karachi lead the medal table with 39-18-10. They are followed by the hosts Hyderabad who have so far 14-26-13 medals in their bag.

However, Hyderabad created quite a stir when they beat strong Karachi by 33-24 points in the final to clinch the basketball (men) gold.

The bronze medal went to Sukkur who got the better of Mirpurkhas 21-19 in a closely fought play-off.

Hyderabad’s Rizwana Waseem also shone on the track when she grabbed two gold medals in 400m and 1500m. She had won 800m and 4x400m relay gold on Wednesday

Karachi won the gold in men and women hockey, football, volleyball (women), gymnastics, cycling, table tennis (men) and karate.

Karachi women spikers outplayed Hyderabad 3-0 to annex volleyball gold.

The scores were 25-20, 25-22, 25-20.
