DADU, June 23: The superintending engineer of the western Sindh circle irrigation, Mr Ghulam Hyder Qureshi, has said that committees will be set up to check watercourses on the Rice and Dadu canals.

Talking to reporters here on Thursday, he said that the rotation programme had been announced for 72 watercourses originating from the Rice canal and 60 watercourses originating from the Dadu canal for 15 days.

Meanwhile, farmers of the Rice canal objected to the rotation schedule.

Talking to Dawn on Friday, a grower from K.N. Shah, Mr Zahid Hussain Jatoi, said that the rotation system would affect lands on the command area of Rice canal. He said that farmers would not be able to cultivate paddy crop on time.
