HARIPUR, June 25: The Haripur District Council will elect three members of the District Public Safety Commission at a meeting on Monday. District and sessions judge Jehangir Khan will be the presiding officer.

The 63-member district council will elect two men and one woman member from the council through secret ballot.

The men candidates are Riaz Khan, nazim of the Rehana union council; Syed Wajaht Shah, nazim of the Sera-i-Saleh union council; and Iqbal Tariq, nazim of the Khairbara Ghazi union council. The women contestants are Sadaf Sardar and Hameeda Javed Pani.

Besides, two members from outside the district council will be selected by a committee, headed by the district and sessions judge, and an MNA and an MPA from the district will also be members of the safety commission.
