KOHAT, June 28: A murder convict, who was awarded death penalty in 1993, was hanged in the district prison on Wednesday. The convict, Izharullah, had murdered one Irfanullah in Hangu in 1990.
After his conviction in 1993, he had challenged the decision but the Peshawar High Court and the Supreme Court of Pakistan had upheld the lower court’s verdict.
He had then prayed the president for mercy, who rejected his appeal. He was given 15 more days to negotiate with the victim’s family, who refused to pardon or accept compensation.
The convict’s body was later handed over to his family.
