HYDERABAD, July 10: District Nazim Kanwar Naveed Jamil on Monday said that protection of life and property of all communities and sects living in Hyderabad was the responsibility of the district administration.
He said the district was free from religious bigotry.
Speaking at a meeting with different communities and officials concerned in his office, the nazim said Christians had played an important role in the creation of Pakistan and their services would remain unforgettable.
Different communities were living in Hyderabad with a sense of brotherhood, he said, adding that everyone was free to practice his religion.
He lauded efforts of the federal and provincial governments in this respect and said that no religion permitted discrimination against any sect or religion.
Christian community leaders attending the meeting praised the efforts of the nazim for the development of Hyderabad and stressed the need of coordination.
They also proposed some measures in this regard.
Hyderabad DPO Ali Ahmed Junejo, Bishop Rafiq Masih (diocese), Bishop Max Roderix (catholic), catholic board of education director Father Jan Murad, Father Victor Jan, Taluka Nazim City Javed Jabbar and Taluka Nazim Qasimabad Noor Mohammad Shoro were present on the occasion.
