KHAIRPUR: Ghulam Ali Talpur dies

KHAIRPUR, July 10: Former Member of the Sindh Assembly Mir Ghulam Ali Talpur died in a hospital in Karachi on Sunday night after a prolonged illness. The body was brought to Kotdiji on Monday for funeral.

The deceased’s father, Mir Ali Dino Khan Talpur, was the second head of Khairpur state (from June 1948 to May 1949) and shot to fame for making his officers swear in a special ceremony that they would never take bribes from anyone.

The day the ceremony was held is known in history as “Youm-i-Qasam” (the oath day).

The late Mir Ghulam Ali Talpur was a Pakistan Muslim League (Functional) member.
