ISLAMABAD, July 15: PPP Chairperson Benazir Bhutto has expressed her firm resolve to return to Pakistan ahead of the upcoming general elections so that she could lead her party to a thumping victory.

Benazir stated this at a meeting held in London on Saturday. The meeting was attended by partymen from Rawalpindi who got tickets to contest for party posts at the levels of district, city, division and province.

Earlier, the participants – who had met her to discuss the political situation in Pakistan – had expressed their desire to see Benazir back in Pakistan prior to the next election.

Members of the party’s Federal Council and Central Executive Committee from the Punjab also attended the meeting. Central office-bearers Jehangir Badr, Shah Mahmood Qureshi, Sherry Rehman, Raja Pervez Ashraf, Safdar Abbasi, Khalid Kharal and Naheed Khan were also present.

The meeting discussed matters relating to the party organisation in the division with particular reference to the forthcoming general elections.

The participants welcomed the recent singing of the Charter of Democracy by the ARD. They made a firm commitment to pursue the goals enshrined in the Charter and to restore undiluted democracy in the country.

The meeting reiterated the resolve to continue struggle for providing relief to the common man in Pakistan against rising prices and unemployment.—Online
