HYDERABAD, July 17: A large number of people from Kotri, including women, held a demonstration outside the press club on here Monday in protest against killing of Rasool Bux Brohi, a resident of the Qadan Shoro village, in what they called a fake encounter staged by the Karachi police.

They urged the superior judiciary to take suo motu notice of the murder of Rasool Bux Brohi at the hands of the Karachi police. Due to the protest demonstration, the press club road remained blocked for over an hour.

Speaking on the occasion, lawyer Ayaz Latif Palijo and writer Roshan Sundar Chandio said that the Karachi police had killed Rasool Bux Brohi in a fake encounter claiming that he was Mashooq Brohi.

They said that the body of Rasool Bux Brohi had already been identified by his close relatives but the Karachi police had refused to hand over the body to his heirs.

Condemning police atrocities, they said that a large number of political activists had been arrested by police whose whereabouts were not being made public.
