HYDERABAD, July 18: People will remember late Shahnawaz Bhutto for his services to the cause of democracy, said speakers at a meeting held here to mark his 21st death anniversary.

The Pakistan People’s Party, Sindh People’s Students Federation and PPP-(Shaheed Bhutto) held separate functions here on Tuesday to pay tributes to Shahnawaz Bhutto, son of late Prime Minister Z.A.Bhutto.

District PPP president and MPA Zahid Ali Bhurgari presided over the anniversary function at the party secretariat at the district council shopping centre.

Speaking on the occasion, Zahid Ali Bhurgari, Syed Saleem Shah Bukhari, Amanullah Siyal and Aftab Ahmed Khanzada said his sacrifices would never be forgotten.

The sacrifices of the entire Bhutto family for the downtrodden masses had no parallel in the history of the world, they claimed.

The speakers severely criticized the government and held the rulers responsible for rampant lawlessness, unemployment, hunger and terrorism in the country.

A large number of workers attended the anniversary.

SPSF: The Sindh People’s Students Federation organised the anniversary function at the Hyderabad Press Club.

Paying tributes to the leader, MPA Zahid Ali Bhurgari, Sindh People’s Youth Organisation president Aajiz Dhamrah, SPSF leaders Dr Fayaz Rajpar and Mir Abdul Razzaq Turab said Shahnawaz Bhutto by emulating his father had sacrificed his life for the cause of people.

They called upon party workers and student wings to prepare themselves for launching a struggle against military rulers. Party chairperson Benazir Bhutto would lead the movement, they added.

PPP-SB: The PPP-SB also held its function at the Hyderabad Press Club. Speaking on the occasion, provincial party president Meenhan Khan Rind said Shahnawaz Bhutto had been a revolutionary leader, who had waged an armed struggle against military dictator General Ziaul Haq. He vowed that the PPP-SB would complete the mission of the Bhuttos.
