HYDERABAD, July 19: Rasool Bux Brohi, gunned down by a team of Lyari Task Force led by SP Chaudhry Aslam Khan on the northern bypass, was laid to rest in a Baga Pir graveyard, off Qadan Shoro Village, late on Tuesday night.

The funeral was attended by a large number of villagers, relatives and people of the area.

The DPO of Jamshoro, Pir Fareed Jan Sarhandi, the late Brohi’s mother Ms Pathani, uncle Ghulam Hussain and father-in-law Hashim Brohi brought the body from Karachi.

Emotional scenes were witnessed in the village and some of the close relatives threatened to commit suicide in the village but elders of the community intervened and pacified them.

The relatives of the deceased said that they did not expect justice from Karachi police.

Two cousins of the deceased fell unconscious when final rituals were being performed for the burial.

An elder of the area, Mohammad Juman Otho, said that villagers were waiting for soyem to take place and then they would launch a protest movement in cooperation with people of the area, and social and political organisations.

He said that the Brohi community did not have confidence in Karachi police.

“We are poor and do not expect justice from Karachi police. We hope that the Supreme Court would take notice of the matter to ensure justice to our family”, said Ghulam Hussain, deceased’s maternal uncle.
