SUKKUR July 20: District Nazim Nasir Hussain Shah has said that the district government is working on a plan to make Sukkur “a city of lights.
He said the district government was spending about Rs40 million on preservation, restoration and beautification of historical places and restoring them to their original grandeur.
Speaking at the inaugural ceremony of the installation of searchlights by the Karachi Electronic Market in connection with the beautification and illumination of the city, the nazim said that lights for beautification of the Sukkur barrage had also been installed by the district government from its own resources to restore the old grandeur of the city.
The nazim observed that a scheme had been launched to install filter plants at the union council level as per water vision of the president to provide pure drinking water to the people even in the remote areas of the district.
He said that at the primary level 18 spots had been selected for installing sodium lights in Sukkur city and that the same scheme would be extended at the district level.
The nazim lauded the efforts of Taluka Nazim Naeem Siddiqui and the president of the Electronic Market Karachi, Abdul Waheed Memon, for the services rendered by them for beautification and development of the city.
