DADU, July 21: The District Police Officer of Jamshoro, Pir Farid Jan Sarhandi, who is a member of an inquiry team probing into the death of Rasool Bux Brohi in a police encounter in Karachi, has said that report of DNA test would determine whether the deceased was Rasool Bux Brohi or Mashooq Brohi.

He said that family members of the deceased have, however, insisted in their statements before the committee that he was not Mashooq Brohi, a hardened criminal.

Meanwhile, family members of Rasool Bux Brohi, a resident of the Qadan Shoro village, Kotri taluka, have appealed to the prime minister and the chief minister of Sindh to provide justice and request them to order arrest of police officials involved in brutal murder of Rasool Bux. They warned that all family members of Rasool Bux would commit self-immolation outside Sindh High Court, Karachi if they were denied justice. Talking to reporters in Qadan Shoro Village on Friday, Ms Pathani, mother of the deceased and Ms Lal Bibi, widow of Brohi said that Rasool Bux was shot dead after torture by police.

They said that Brohi was innocent and was not involved in any criminal activities.

They appealed to the prime minister Shaukat Aziz and chief minister of Sindh to take immediate notice of the incident and order registration of a murder case against police officials involved in the managed encounter.

Uncles of the deceased - Ghulam Hussain and Hashim and cousin Ali Nawaz alleged that police had tortured Rasool Bux for two days and later shot him dead in a fake encounter.

They said that the Supreme Court of Pakistan should take suo motu notice of the incident.

Meanwhile, Soyem of deceased, Rasool Bux Brohi was held at Qadan Shoro Village. The taluka nazim of Kotri, Abdul Rehman, taluka naib nazim, Saleem Tahir, leaders of JSQM, STP and social workers attended the Soyem.
