PESHAWAR, July 21: Leader of the Opposition in the National Assembly Maulana Fazlur Rehman has asked the leaders of the Ummah to dispatch their armed forces under one banner to resist the Israeli aggression against Lebanon.

Speaking at the Friday congregation at Mamakmandi mosque here, he said the Muslim countries should from a united army for ending persistent Israeli aggression and the US policy of blackmail in the Middle East. He held the US equally responsible for the current Israeli aggression in Lebanon and instability in the Middle East.

He said a westernised section openly opposed the enforcement of Shariat.

Maulana Fazl said the ulema were united on the issue.

He held feudal lords responsible for political instability and corruption in the country. He said feudalism was an obstacle in the way of democracy and enforcement of the shariat.

He said ulema were not involved in the dismemberment of Pakistan, instead it were the military generals who got it divided to protect their own interests. He held the secret agencies responsible for fanning sectarianism across the country.

In Lebanon, he said, Hizbollah was not being targeted but Israeli fighter planes were targeting civilian population and infrastructure across the country. The US had endorsed the madness and aggression of Israel, he said.

He said if the US attacked Pakistan in the future, President Pervez Musharraf would side with President George Bush.

He said the Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal would resist the repealing of the Hudood ordinances.

Later, workers of the Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam, led by Abdul Jalil Jan, provincial minister Maulana Amanullah Haqqani and Qari Ihsanul Haq, marched distance from the mosque to the Bajauri Chowk, where the leaders spoke against the Israeli bombardment on Lebanon.
