KARACHI: National Bank of Pakistan delivered a resilient performance in the first half of 2026, posting a profit before tax of Rs67.3 billion and a profit after tax of Rs32.4bn, translating into earnings per share of Rs15.23 for the half year ended June 30.

Interest income was supported by robust double-digit volumetric growth in investments, which expanded by 15.1 per cent. This momentum was reinforced by a stronger funding mix, with consistent growth in low-cost CASA deposits helping to bring the overall cost of funds down considerably, thereby cushioning the impact of tighter asset yields.

“As a result, the bank generated gross interest income of Rs361.7bn in the first half of calendar 2026. Non-mark-up income also advanced, rising 3.8pc year-on-year to Rs27.6bn, driven by a strong performance across multiple streams. Foreign exchange income grew to Rs5.4bn from Rs3.5bn, while dividend income surged 30pc to Rs4.1bn,” said the NBP. The operating expenses increased by 11pc to Rs65.5bn.
