SWABI, July 23: Differences among leaders of in Swabi chapter of the Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam (F) are reported to have widened following boycott of party elections last week by a group led by MNA Maulana Khalil Ahmad and former provincial general secretary Najeem Khan.

The other group, led by provincial Education Minister Fazal Ali and former district information secretary Hakim Ihsanul Haq, claims to have won the elections and that the education minister has been elected as the district party Amir.

“Both groups have strong support and vow to oppose each other,” a party insider told Dawn on Sunday.

MNA Ahmad and his supporters had boycotted the election for the party’s district Amir and general secretary held on Wednesday. The source said a majority of party workers did not take part in the elections because of the rivalry between the two groups.
