KHAIRPUR, July 24: Four armed robbers deprived the passengers of a coach of cash, gold ornaments and other valuables on the National Highway near Mithri bus stop in Kotdiji taluka on Monday night.

Reports reaching here said that the robbers who had boarded the Balochistan-bound coach at Nawabshah took out their weapons and held the passengers hostage when the coach reached the Mithri bus stop.

They severely beat the bus conductor, Mohammad Hassan, and the driver, Mohammad Qasim, before robbing the passengers.

After they escaped with their loot, the passengers blocked the National Highway for an hour and protested against police.

KILLED: A motorcyclist was killed and another sustained injuries when a truck hit it near Lanishan, Kotdiji taluka on National Highway late Monday night.

Reports reaching here said that Mansoor Shaikh, 25, and his friend, Sajjad, were on their way to Karamabad village when the truck (QA-6364) hit their bike.

Mansoor died instantly while Sajjad sustained injuries.

INJURED: Four passers-by sustained injuries, two serious, when they were caught in crossfire between two rival groups of Mangla community who were fighting over a matrimonial dispute in Murad Manglo village, Sobhodero taluka on Monday.

The seriously injured, Sumera and Khadim Hussain were first taken to rural health centre, Gambat from where they were shifted to the Civil Hospital, Sukkur.
