ISLAMABAD, July 24: Pakistan People’s Party chairperson Benazir Bhutto has asked the party workers to gear up for launching an anti-government drive and start preparations for the next general elections.

In a statement here on Monday, PPP Islamabad women wing president Nargis Faiz Malik said important decisions were taken in the London meeting, adding that the party chairperson was well aware of the performance of each and every party worker.

Quoting the former prime minister she said, “Ms Bhutto took individual opinion of party leaders and appreciated the performance of Islamabad women wing.

Ms Bhutto said General Pervez Musharraf had failed to achieve his seven-point objectives. She said Gen Musharraf also backed out of his promise regarding taking off his military uniform.

She said the opposition was united on a one-point agenda of restoration of democracy and sending the army back to barracks.

“The party chairperson explained the policy regarding allotment of tickets for the next elections, adding that those party members who earlier won election in Rawalpindi and Islamabad would be given tickets again,” she said.—Online

Our reporter adds: Benazir Bhutto has condoled the death of Abdul Sattar Gabol, former PPP minister and a noted politician, who died on Sunday in Karachi.

In a condolence message on Monday, the former prime minister expressed grief over the death of Abdul Sattar Gabol who, she said, was a prominent political figure, a worker of Pakistan movement and also a social worker of Lyari.
