HYDERABAD, July 26: Former deputy speaker of the Sindh Assembly Syed Jalal Mehmood Shah has stressed the urgent need for providing a platform to Sindhi nationalists to do parliamentary politics.

He said that after consulting the leadership of nationalist parties and renegade activists, he would organise such a party in Sindh.

Speaking at a reception hosted for him by the president of the Shehri Ittehad, Lakhi Jaskani, in Tando Mohammad Khan on Wednesday, he said that in absence of a parliamentary party, the nationalist movement had received a tremendous setback in Sindh.

Mr Shah, who is the grandson of the late G. M. Syed, the founder of the Jeay Sindh Tehrik, said that keeping in view the obtaining political situation in the country, it had become extremely necessary to form a parliamentary political party to replace politics of slogans in Sindh.

He said that he was meeting the leaders of nationalist parties and would announce the formation of new party after three months.

He said that the party would strive to resolve the national problems of Sindh in assemblies and resist anti-Sindh policies outside the assemblies with people’s power.

Mr Shah also attended a reception in Wangai Mehri Goth of Tando Ghulam Haider taluka hosted by Usman Mehri.

He said that the basic purpose of the visit to Tando Mohammad Khan was to muster support for the new party.

The former deputy speaker also attended two other receptions in Tando Mohammad Khan district.

PLEA: A man, Shahid Ali, son of Mohammad Hashim Bhatti, has appealed to the authorities to order the arrest of the accused who had looted cash and ornaments from him and his wife on July 19.

Speaking at a press conference at the press club here on Wednesday, he said that on July 19, at 9:30pm, while he along with his wife and two children, was returning from Bhatti Goth on motorcycle, they were waylaid by three young men on motorcycle.

He said that at pistol point they looted ornaments, cash and a mobile telephone of total value of Rs100,000.

He said that his wife identified one robber as Waqas, son of Iqbal Arain.

He said that the Tando Yousuf police was informed and the relatives of the accused Waqas were contacted.

Shahid Ali said that the uncle of Waqas, Aslam admitted the guilt of his nephew, tendered an apology and assured that the looted goods would be returned.

He said that police succeeded in arresting Waqas and also recovered mobile phone from him.

He said that during interrogation, Waqas disclosed the names of his two accomplices as Asif, son of Iqbal Ghouri and Zubair, son of Mubeen.

He said that Aslam was a reporter of some private TV channel and he was influencing the investigation and also threatening him and his family with dire consequences.

He said that under influence of the TV channel reporter, the police had also closed the investigation. He appealed to the superior authorities to direct the police to arrest the remaining two accused and recover the stolen property.
