RAWALPINDI: Police have arrested an alleged rapist who was wanted by the Sadiqabad police in an eight-year-old girl’s rape case. The girl had come to Rawalpindi from Lahore about two weeks ago to attend a wedding ceremony.

The rape victim was memorising the Holy Quran and studying in 4th class in Lahore.

Noman Ijaz, a resident of Lahore, registered an FIR with the Sadiqabad police on Thursday saying that he had sent his two daughters with their grandmother Zahida Perveen in the wedding of the sister of the accused Haider Ali, 22, on September 23, 2026 from Lahore to Rawalpindi.

He said that a few days after the marriage when his daughters came back to Lahore, his elder daughter narrated her ordeal to her mother Sumaira Noman that she was feeling severe pain because when she was in Rawalpindi and sleeping in her grandmother’s house, Haider Ali picked her while she was in slumber and took her to another room and did ‘obnoxious act’ with her.

She told her mother that due to severe pain when she woke up and tried to shout , the accused put his hand on her mouth to keep her silent and also threatened to kill her if she told anybody and subsequently he was allowed to go back into her room.

The complainant said in the FIR that after his daughter’s complaint, they took her to a gynaecologist who confirmed after examining her that she had been subjected to rape. And the gynecologist advised them to get her medico legal from the government hospital to register a case with the police.

Police spokesman said that the accused involved in the rape case was detained by the police and will be produced before the court of law with all evidence to bring him to justice.
