NAWABSHAH, July 29: Six people were shot dead over an old enmity near Daulatpur town in the jurisdiction of Aliabad police station on Saturday.

The deceased were identified as Mumtaz Sehto, 28, Mohammad Sehto, 32, both are brothers, Juman Sehto, 31, Abdul Karim Sehto, 31, Shoukat Junejo, 27, and Mohammad Ali Rind, 30.

They were on their way to Nawabshah in a car to attend hearing of a case in court when armed men hiding in bushes near Kundo Saeed village stopped the car.

The assailants allowed car driver Yaseen Kakepoto to leave and gunned down other six people.

The situation became tense in the area after the incident and temporary pickets were set up by police to avert any untoward incident.

Nawabshah DPO Dr Sarwar Jamali told Dawn that there was an old enmity between Sehto and Paryo clans.

He said that Ismail Sehto was killed by the Paryo group some five years back and later Umed Ali Paryo and Moharram Zardari were killed by the Sehtos.

The bodies were brought to the Shahpur Jehanian health centre and handed over to the relatives after post-mortem.
