HYDERABAD, July 31: Ms Nasreen, daughter of Pandhi Mallah, has appealed to higher authorities to provide her protection from her close relatives who, she said, had turned against her because she married a man of her choice three years after the death of her first husband.

Ms Nasreem, who lives in the Mehboob town, Tandojam, told a news conference at the Hyderabad Press Club on Monday that she had no one to take care of her and her three children after her first husband died three years ago, so she decided to marry Rafique Mallah on June 20 this year of her own free will.

The remarriage annoyed her close relatives who were threatening her and her husband with murder, she said making an appeal to authorities to provide them protection.

Rafique Mallah was also present at the press conference.

Action against EDO demanded: Leader of PPP Nawab Abdul Ghani Talpur, MNA, has appealed to the president to take notice of ‘illegal allotment of land by the EDO revenue, Jamshoro, to the Cadet College, Petaro.

In a letter addressed to the president, a copy of which was also faxed to Dawn, Mr Ghani said that the land, survey number 69 and 74 in deh Petaro Jageer, allotted to the college was originally owned by a villager, Mohammad Khan Khaskheli.

He alleged that the EDO had illegally leased out the land without any lawful authority and added that he had also raised the issue on the floor of the National Assembly.

Federal Interior Minister Aftab Ahmed Khan Sherpao had assured him on the assembly’s floor that he would take action but nothing had been done so far, he said.

He appealed to the president to restore justice to the real owner of the property.
