QUETTA: Journalists across Balochistan observed a Black Day on Tuesday on the call of the Pakistan Federal Union of Journalists (PFUJ) to remember the November 3, 2007 emergency, and to protest against the forced dismissal of journalists and media workers, closure of media bureau offices in Balochistan, and non-payment and delayed payment of their salaries.

Black flags were hoisted at all press clubs in the province and journalists wore black armbands and staged demonstrations to highlight growing challenges being faced by the media industry.

In Quetta, the Balochistan Union of Journalists (BUJ) organised a protest outside the Quetta Press Club, where a black flag was hoisted and a sit-in was held. A large number of journalists, lawyers and civil society representatives attended the sit-in.
