Top seeds advance in Sindh Tennis

KARACHI, Aug 12: Top three seeds advanced to the men’s singles pre-finals of the Sindh Ranking tennis tournament at the DHA Sunset Club on Saturday.

Top-ranked Nomi Qamar conceded just one point while brushing aside Jehangir Rasheed 6-1, 6-0. Second seed Yasir Khan got a walkover against Zulqarnain while third seed Danish Ahmed’s opponent Saif Noor retired when 2-4 down in the second set after losing the opener 4-6.

Anum Saeed had an easy 6-0, 6-1 sailing over Sara Ahmed in the only match of ladies singles.

Results:

Men’s singles (pre-quarterfinals): Farhan bt Mateen Arif 6-0, 3-0 (retd); Robin Das bt Harif Iltifat 3-6, 6-3, 6-4.

(Quarterfinals): Nomi Qamar bt Jehangir Rasheed 6-1, 6-0; Danish Ahmed bt Saif Noor 6-4, 4-2 (retd); Yasir Khan w/o Zulqarnain.

Ladies singles (round robin): Anum Saeed bt Sara Ahmed 6-0, 6-1.

Juniors U-17 singles (pre-quarterfinals): S. Abbas Raza bt Abdul Rehman 6-0, 6-2; S. Zuhair Raza w/o Saadur Rehman; Omer Shahid bt Salman Ahmed 6-2, 6-2; Sunny Williams bt Mustafa Jamal 6-4, 6-1.

Sunday’s fixtures: Boys U-13, U-15 (pre-quarterfinals) 9.00am.
