HYDERABAD, Aug 30: District Nazim Kanwar Naveed Jamil has linked the offer of the Daewoo Pakistan Express Bus Service’s offer with jobs for local people in the express bus service connecting Hyderabad with the rest of the country.

Talking to a five-member delegation of the transport company, he said the district government was implementing multi-dimensional strategy to boost the economy of the district by providing better infrastructure and communication facilities to businessmen and the common people.

The team led by Daewoo bus service president Lee Jae Byung called on him at his office on Tuesday.

Mr Naveed said the district government would welcome investment in the district either for production or for transport. It aimed at providing access to goods in the market within and outside the country, but also to create more jobs for the people of the district, he said.

He said the district government was looking forward to investment for establishing a big workshop for motor vehicle fitness at Hyderabad.

The district government, the nazim said, had decided to provide full security and other administrative facilities to investors and was endeavouring for the establishment of a five star hotel and restoration of air service at Hyderabad to provide facility to businessmen.

He said Hyderabad had the potential for investment. It was rich in raw material, skilled manpower, nearest to seaport and situated on the National Highway and was a gateway to the interiors of Sindh and upcountry.

He said, due to its geographical status, the proposed project of the Daewoo express bus service would be feasible for the people and business community of Hyderabad and the investors as well.

The nazim appointed a two-member committee, comprising EDO revenue Abdul Sattar Jatoo and HDA Director-General Tahir Ahmed to examine and evaluate the proposal.

The delegation told the nazim that in case of implementation of their project, about 1,000 people would be absorbed in different jobs. They said their company believed in reinvesting the earned money.

Later, members of the delegation and those of the committee visited various places for establishment of bus terminal for the proposed project.

TASK FORCE: District Nazim Kanwar Naveed Jamil here on Wednesday appointed a task force to determine the future needs of water supply and drainage system and to identify new schemes.

He formed the force at a meeting of the officials concerned of the district government and consultants.

The task force in consultation with nazims of various UCs of the district will assess water and drainage requirements of each UC and submit a report within 15 days.

The meeting took stock of the situation arising out of the recent heavy rains and considered ways and means to combat the situation.

Kanwar Naveed Jamil directed the consultants, HDA and district officials to accelerate the pace of work on the water supply and drainage schemes besides.

The district nazim appointed a task force comprising project director water supply and sewerage project HDA, XEN water supply Latifabad and a member of the development committee..

Hyderabad DCO Mohammad Hussain Syed, HDA Director-General Tahir Ahmed, Wasa Managing Director Kafeel Ahmed, Water Supply and Sewerage project director Fahim Akhtar Junejo, former chief engineer highways Rao Abdul Jabbar, Resident Engineer of M/S Usmani and Company, Mr Azizuddin and other officials concerned attended the meeting.

WASA BILLS: the Water and Sanitation Agency, HAD, notified here on Wednesday that the water bills for the month of August had already been issued which must be paid by Sept 11 to improve the water supply and sanitation system.

A spokesman of Wasa said that after Sept 11, legal action would be taken against the defaulters.
