HYDERABAD, Aug 30: Demonstrations in protest against the killing of Nawab Akbar Khan Bugti and his followers in Kohlu continued in different parts of interior of Sindh for the fourth day on Wednesday.

In Hyderabad, protest demonstrations were held by the People’s Party Parliamentarians, Awami National Party and the students’ wing of the Sindh Taraqqi Pasand Party.

PPP activists also offered funeral prayers for Akbar Bugti outside the press club.

Speaking on the occasion, district PPP president MPA Zahid Ali Bhurgari, Maula Bux Chandio, Mir Fateh Talpur and other party leaders feared that repercussions of the Bugti’s killing would not be restricted to Balochistan alone.

They termed the killing state terrorism and said it had endangered the integrity of the country. They demanded registration of a case against the government.

The ANP marched from the Bacha Khan Chowk to the press club in protest against the killing of Akbar Bugti. They raised slogans against the government.

Speaking on the occasion, Qamoos Gul Khattak, Sher Zaman, Mehrab Khan and other ANP leaders said Nawab Bugti’s killing had created a serious political crisis in the country and demanded exemplary punishment for the culprits.

The Sindh Taraqqi Pasand Students Federation held a demonstration outside the press club. Federation leaders Faisal Nizamani, Ayaz Hussain Kolachi and Shafiq Leghari termed the killing of Akbar Bugti a political murder.

They said the gory incident would increase hatred against Punjab and demanded that the army operation in Balochistan be stopped forthwith.

The Sindh National Party at a meeting held here on Wednesday under the chairmanship of Amir Bhambhro condemned the killing of Akbar Bugti.

It endorsed the strike call for Sept 1 given by opposition parties.

The Sindh National Congress, in a statement faxed to Dawn, termed the killing a political murder.

It demanded the appointment of a judicial commission, headed by the Chief Justice of Pakistan, to probe into the incident.

SUKKUR: Hundreds of workers of opposition parties, including MMA, PPP-P, PML-N and Tehrik-i-Insaf, took out a procession here on Wednesday in protest against the killing of Nawab Akbar Khan Bugti.

They raised slogans against President Pervez Musharraf and Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz, and demanded registration of an FIR against people behind the killing.

Earlier, hundreds of people attended the Ghaibana Namaz-i-Janaza of Mr Bugti held in front of the press club.

Local PPP leaders Mushtaque Surhio, Arshad Mughal and Hizbullah Jakhro of the Jamaat Islami, Abdul Razzaque Aasi of the PML-N and Khan Chacha Gadani attended the prayer.

They demanded removal of President Pervez Musharraf and Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz as according to them both were responsible for Bugti’s death.

NAWABSHAH: Activists of nationalist and political parties took out a protest procession and held a demonstration in the Jam Saheb town.

Leaders of the Awami Tehrik, Jeay Sindh Qaumi Mahaz and the Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam led the procession which started from the bus stop and culminated outside the press club.

A meeting of the PPP-SB, Nawabshah chapter, held here on Wednesday, condemned the killing of Nawab Bugti.

NAUSHAHRO FEROZE: Activists of the PPP, PML-N and other parties paid tribute to Akbar Bugti and offered funeral prayers for him outside the press club.

Activists of the ARD also took out a protest procession.

DADU: Activists of the Awami Tehrik organised a three- kilometre march on the Khairpur Nathan Shah bypass.

The also observed a token hunger strike.

Activists of the STP and the Awami Tehrik also held a demonstration in Kotri.

Activists of the JSQM and the JSSF held a demonstration outside the Dadu Press Club.

MIRPURKHAS: Political parties took out a procession from the old musafirkhana to the press club in protest against the killing of Akbar Bugti.

Activists of the PPP, Jamaat-i-Islami, Sindh National Front and other parties participated in the protest.

They marched through main roads and reached the press club.

They claimed that there was no rule of law in the country and decisions of the government were weakening the country.

They alleged that the government was involved in target killing of political and religious leaders.

A protest procession was also taken out by the Mirpurkhas District Bar Association.

The participants urged the government to hand over Akbar Bugti’s body to heirs.

JACOBABAD: ARD leaders and workers took out a protest procession against the killing of Nawab Bugti.

The procession started from the Allah Bux Park and after marching through different roads of the city reached the DCO chowk. Later, the protesters staged a sit-in and observed a token hunger strike outside the press club.
