KHAIRPUR, Sept 1: A large number of tail-end growers of Khuhra and Thatti minors continued their protest against an acute shortage of water in their minors for few months.

The protesters led by Union Council Nazim Madd Sanaullah Veesar, Naib Nazim Ali Dino Narejo, Abadgar Ittehad leader Abdul Karim Narejo and Comrade Mohammad Hashim staged demonstration on the Thatti minor bridge on the Sobhodero link road.

Later, the protesters observed a token hunger strike. Growers from different parts of the taluka joined the hunger strike.

PPP PROTEST: Pak-

istan People’s Party workers, led by Syed Amjad Shah, Ghulam Qasim Jiskani, Basheer Ahmed Mallah and others, took out a procession in the Kumb town on Friday to protest against implicating PPP leader and former ADP Naseer union council nazim Haji Imtiaz Mallah, his brother and other growers in a false water theft case.

Speaking on the occasion, the PPP leaders said that water supply to the Mirwah from the Sukkur Barrage has been closed for last one month in such a situation lodging a water theft case was part of the vindictive act.

SHOPKEEPERS FINED: The Mukhtiarkar of Thari Mirwah, Raz Mohammad Gambhir, raided different shops in Sui Gas, Hindyari and Thari Mirwah and fined 15 shopkeepers of the vegetable market for excess charging.
