SKARDU, Sept 1: People belonging to different walks of life in Skardu and Ghangche Northern Areas have called upon the Ministry of Religious Affairs to release Zakat Fund Guzara Allowance before the advent of the holy month of Ramazan.

They said on Friday that the six-monthly Guzara Allowance had been released to the authorities concerned in July 2006, but it had not been distributed among people in six districts of Northern Areas.

They also demanded release of Technical Education Scholarship Fund for Northern Areas which, they believed, had been completely ignored in this regard.

Complaining about the stoppage of Permanent Rehabilitation Scheme since January last, they demanded release of fund for resumption of the scheme.

They also demanded of the ministry to release the Eid Package well in time.—PPI
