KARACHI, Sept 2: The newly-elected office-bearers of the Karachi City Cricket Association (KCCA) took their oath at the National Stadium on Saturday, according to a press release.
The KCCA’s outgoing president Munir Hussain administered the oath of office on his successor Dr Syed Mohammad Ali Shah, honorary secretary Prof. Sirajul Islam Bukhari and treasurer Mehdi Hasan.
Later Dr Shah, the newly-elected president, administered the oath of office on the seven zonal chairmen – Umer Siddiqui, Prof Ijaz Ahmed Farooqi, Raziq H. Rabbani, S.M. Adil, Khalid Nafees, M. Akram Khan, Ghulam Waris.
Zonal secretaries Aftab Ahmed Khan, Jamil Ahmed, A.H. Khatri, S.M. Mussarat Raza, Shahzad Alam, Azam Khan and S.A. Faheem were also administered oath of office as well as zonal treasurers Shahid Rasheed, Afzal Sherry, Afzal Qureshi, Atiq Siddiqui, Iftikhar Zaman Khan, Mohammad Salim and Mirza Waseem Baig.
The KCCA general body then elected the following new-office bearers and members of the Executive Council:
Vice-presidents: Khalil Ahmed Nainitalwala, Mohammad Irfan Shaikh, Dr Mirza Ikhtiar Baig, Dr Faiz M. Khan, Mian Azmat Hussain, Ajmal Ansari, Nadeem Umar and Mehtab Ahmed .
Joint secretary: Mohammad Akram Khan.
Assistant secretaries: Touseef Siddiqui and Shafiq Kazmi.
Council members: S.M.I. Bukhari, Zafar Ahmed, Zulfiqar Shaikh, S. Munir Ali Qadri, Shafaat Hussain, Sharfuddin, Saeed Jabbar, Amin Merchant, Sarwar Hussain Khan, Ziaul Hasan, Visal Ansari and Shah Riazuddin.
The general body then formed the following committees which will start functioning with immediate effect:
Finance Committee: Mian Azmat Hussain (chairman), Mehdi Hasan (secretary) with all zonal treasurers as members.
Tournament Committee: Mehtab Ahmed (chairman), Touseef Siddiqui (secretary) Zafar Ahmed, Shahzad Alam, Azam Khan, Ateeq Siddiqui, S.M. Ishaq and Ameer Akram Khan (members).
Registration Committee: Prof Sirajul Islam Bukhari (chairman), Shafiq Kazmi (secretary) with all Zonal secretaries as members.
The oath of office on the newly elected Executive Council will be administered by KCCA president D Shah on Sept 9 at 5:00pm at KCCA office, National Stadium.
Meanwhile, the KCCA president announced a personal contribution of Rs 20,000 to each zone to start an Inter-club zonal cricket tournament under the name of the newly-elected zonal chairman.
