SUKKUR, Sept 3: People’s Party MNA Syed Khursheed Ahmed Shah has suggested that Gen Musharraf should resin to save the country because the government has put the solidarity of the country at stake by killing Nawab Akbar Bugti.
The lawmaker said fresh election should be held to end what he termed the artificial democracy.
He was addressing a press conference here on Sunday after presiding over a meeting of the Sukkur division PPP. Party MNAs, MPAs and other office-bearers attended the meeting.
Khursheed Shah condemned the statement of Chaudhry Pervaiz Ellahi, which Mr Shah said was aimed at bringing Punjab and other provinces at war. Mr Shah quoted Mr Ellahi as saying that Nawab Bugti wanted to kill Punjabis living in Balochistan.
Describing the murder of Akbar Bugti as target killing, Syed Khursheed Ahmed Shah said that such statements were being issued to conceal facts.
He claimed that the army and ISPR had created a story after target killing and was changing their stance now and then.
The MNA said Bugti’s glasses, wristwatch and walking stick had been found, but according to official statements the body mysteriously remained untraced.
He said contradictory statements about the recovery of Bugti’s body had exposed the government.
Khursheed Shah said it was target killing which had jeopardized Pakistan’s integrity and solidarity as well as created hatred against Punjab.
According to him, the Peoples Party had roots in all the four provinces of the country and it would try to dispel the wrong impressions being created about the people of Punjab.
He said the rulers had usurped the rights of the smaller provinces and pitched the people of smaller provinces against Punjab.
Khursheed Shah said the death of Bugti had unified the entire opposition and soon it would launch a protest movement for the ouster of government and for removing Gen Musharraf from the government.
He said the parliamentary committee, comprising Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain and Mushahid Hussain, had already finalised its recommendations for resolving the Balochistan crisis, but President Musharraf had rejected them.
He charged President Musharraf for the present situation and deplored that Gen Musharraf was the first expressing pleasure upon receiving the news of Akbar Bugti’s killing.
Earlier, the meeting adopted resolutions condemning the government for trying to bring Punjab and other provinces at war.
In another resolution, the meeting demanded that the government should make public the recommendations and suggestions of the parliamentary committee comprising Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain and Mushahid Hussain.
The meeting was of the view that the recommendations had not been made public because President Musharraf had rejected the recommendations of the committee.
