NAWABSHAH, Sept 3: Water supply to parts of the city remained suspended due to damages caused to supply line on Sunday morning.

The water supply to colonies including Khaskheli colony, Afzal Shah colony, Ali Raza Shah colony, Abdullah Shah colony and Fauji colony remained suspended as a heavy tree fell on the supply line causing damage to it.

Residents told newsmen that they had informed officials concerned but no one reached the spot for repairs.

They said that they already received water in short quantity which now had completely been stopped.

Taluka Nazim Abdul Rauf said that he was not aware of the damage and promised to direct the staff concerned to do the needful.

PROTEST: Residents of Qazi Ahmed took out a procession on Sunday in protest against poor sanitation conditions in the town.

The Shehri Ittehad organised the procession.

Haji Khan Lakho, Rauf Soomro and Salaar Jam Unnar led the protesters.

The procession started from the petrol pump and ended at the press club.

The protesters carried banners and placards.

They raised slogans against the Daulatpur taluka council.

The protesters also blocked the National Highway for an hour by staging a sit-in.

The protesters said that the taluka council had miserably failed to provide proper sanitation facilities and relief to the residents of Qazi Ahmed town.

They said that dirty water had accumulated on streets, mohallas and graveyard.

They said that people were facing hardship due to garbage dumps everywhere and that no sanitation and drainage work was being carried out.

They regretted that despite their requests to officials concerned and nazim nothing was done so far.

They demanded that the district nazim and the DCO should take notice and resolve the problems.
