KHAIRPUR, Sept 3: The Sindh government has sent four office-bearers of the primary and secondary schoolteachers associations on forced leave.

The provincial secretary education issued a letter to this effect to Government School Teachers Association district president Ashraf Khaskheli, district vice-president Mazhar Jalbani, taluka president Faiz Ganj, Liaquat Khaskheli and Primary Teachers Association taluka president Faiz Ganj and Shamsuddin Shar.

PROTEST: Activists of the Awami Tehrik observed a protest day on Sunday against the killing of Nawab Akbar Bugti.

Processions were taken out in Khairpur, Thari Mirwah, Visro Wahan chowk.

Speaking to protesters, leaders expressed solidarity with the people of Balochistan.

DEMO: A large number of tail-end growers of Thatti and Khuhra minors of the Sobhodero taluka continued their protest on Sunday against acute shortage of water in their areas.

Farmers belonging to villages Thatti Narejo, Moorial Narejo and Khalifo Narejo took out a procession and staged a demonstration on the main bridge of Thatti minor. They were carrying copies of the Holy Quran on their heads.

Leaders of the growers said they were protesting for seven days, but no irrigation officials had visited them.
