HYDERABAD, Sept 11: The former nazim of the City District Government Karachi, Niamatullah Khan, has said that the government had given Karachi and Hyderabad ‘on contract to terrorists’ as a result of which people of both cities were living in perpetual nightmare.

Speaking at a news conference at the press club here on Sunday after touring the rain-affected areas, he said that after his return from Kashmir, he had rushed from Karachi airport to Hyderabad along with Malik Naeem with medicines, powder milk and other essential commodities.

During his visit to Latifabad and Qasimabad, he had witnessed widespread devastations where houses were submerged under water and the people were being rescued by boats.

Mr Khan said thousands of people had taken shelter on roof-tops but the district government, except for paying lip service, had provided no relief to rain-affected people.

He said that the district nazim of Hyderabad had visited London more than he had visited Hyderabad.

Mr Niamatullah Khan said that the Sindh chief minister had also visited Hyderabad on Sunday but he did not come out of his vehicle.

He alleged that angry people in Latifabad pelted the vehicle of the chief minister with stones.

He alleged that he was attacked by terrorists of a particular group.

He said these people had no sympathies with the people of Hyderabad.
