HYDERABAD, Sept 12: Sindh health minister Shabbir Ahmed Qaimkhani has said that 23 medical camps have been set up in Hyderabad to provide free medical treatment to rain-affected people and to check the spread of epidemic.
Speaking at a meeting of the senior health officers here on Tuesday, he said that ten medical camps had been working at fixed places, four had been set up in boats to provide medical treatment to marooned people and four mobile teams were visiting different places.
He said that five medical camps had been set up at the Naseemnagar roundabout and one each in Latifabad-7 and 12, SITE area and Gulshan-i-Hali road.
He said that at each camp an ambulance had also been provided where doctors including lady doctors and paramedical staff were working round the clock.
The minister said that a large quantity of medicines had also been made available at the camps.
He said that 10,000 mosquito nets, 2.5 million chlorine tablets and anti-malaria tablets had also been arranged with the help of other organisations and would be distributed through health officers and lady health workers.
He said that arrangements had also been finalised for anti-malaria spray in the city.
Liaquat University of Medical and Health Sciences vice-chancellor Prof Jan Mohammad Memon formed three medical teams to provide medical cover to the people of rain-affected districts.
Each medical team consists of professors, associate professors and assistant professors of medicines, gynaecology, ophthalmology, paediatrics and dermatology.
