SUKKUR, Sept 21: The district nazim of Sukkur, Syed Nasir Hussain Shah, has said that the district government was set to beautify the Sukkur city with a view to providing recreational facilities to people of the third biggest city of the province.
Addressing the ground-breaking ceremony of installation of globe at the Lab-e-Mehran roundabout adjacent to the Circuit House here on Thursday, he said after installation of the globe, this roundabout would give a better look and add to the beauty of the area in particular and the city in general.
There were so many inspiring historical and archaeological sites in Sukkur district which could attract tourists and the district government was trying its best to rehabilitate and bring them in their original shape and for that purpose, a huge amount was being spent to develop various such sites throughout Sukkur, the district nazim maintained.
Giving details of donations given by different companies/ organisations, the DCO Shafique Ahmed Khoso said that various companies had donated Rs 3.5 million for installation of the globe.
Designer of the project, a renowned TV artist, Jamal Shah, said that the world globe having structure of standard steel, would be designed with a height of 28 feet and the scheme would be completed within a period of two months.
He said Sukkur district was very rich in its cultural and historical heritage, which required special attention for its preservation and conservation.
