Sialkot leave for India today

LAHORE: Sept 24: A 14-member Sialkot cricket team, led by Test discard Imran Nazir, leaves for India on Monday to face Uttar Pradesh in the four-day match for the Nissar Trophy in Dharmasala from Sept 27 to 30.

Sialkot as champions of the Quaid-I-Azam Trophy, the country’s most prestigious tournament and Uttar Pradesh as holders of Indian premier championship, the Ranji Trophy, are selected for the match, under an agreement signed between the two neighbouring countries a couple of years back.

The Sialkot squad also includes two Test cricketers in paceman Mohammad Asif and all-rounder Shoaib Malik.

Squad: Imran Nazir (captain), Shahid Yousuf, Tahir Mughal, Sarfraz Ahmed, Mansoor Ahmed, Hafiz Khalid, Asim Butt, Shahzad, Inam-ul-Haq, Atiq-ur-Rehman, Hafiz Majid, Abdur Rehman, Mohammad Asif, Shoaib Malik.
