HYDERABAD, Sept 26: Owners of buses of Qasimabad, Jamshoro, Husri, Latifabad and Kotri have threatened to take extreme steps if a ban on entry of buses into Hyderabad is not lifted within 36 hours.

Speaking at a press conference at the press club on Tuesday, Anwar Palari (Qasimabad), Manzoor Ahmed (Jamshoro), Ahmed Shah (Husri), Iqbal Qureshi (Latifabad) and Rasool Bux (Kotri) said that under the orders of the district nazim, traffic police without any prior notice had stopped the entry of buses and mini-buses into the city.

They said the move had affected more than 200,000 people including students, government employees and poor people who travelled by buses.

They rejected the argument of the district administration that the entry of buses and mini-buses into Hyderabad had been stopped because major development works were in progress in the city.

They said that development works should not come in the way of tens of thousands of poor people who travelled by buses daily to their work places and back home.

They said that the district government should have provided alternate routes for buses before starting development works.
