HYDERABAD, Sept 26: Police on Tuesday arrested three people, and then a policeman, following hijacking of a motorbike in the Site police area on Monday night.

Hyderabad DPO Ali Ahmed Junejo formed a team to apprehend three absconding accused who were directly involved in motorbike hijacking.

Two of them are residents of Karachi while one is brother of a policeman of the investigation wing of the Hyderabad district police.

They were identified as Sajid, Kashif, and Waris, brother of Ghulam Mohiuddin, the policeman.

Site Taluka Police Officer Irfan Mukhtiar Bhutto said that Javed and Adnan were arrested by a team led by him and SHO Site police station Masud Iqbal in Latifabad-12 after one Shoaib Badar, the son of secretary Hyderabad zila council, Haji Abdul Waheed, was deprived of his motorbike HDP-7140 and his cellphone while he was returning to Gulshan-e-Zealpak after offering taraveeh prayers.

Three unidentified armed bandits intercepted Shoaib Badar on the Autobahn road while he was negotiating a turn towards Indus hills.

He was robbed of his cellphone and motorcycle. He immediately informed police.

TPO Site and SHO after getting preliminary details raided Jinnah colony in unit-12 Latifabad.

According to TPO, Javed and Waris were present in the said area and both of them tried to flee.

Javed was arrested while Waris entered his house and closed the front gate from inside. Later, his brother Ghulam Mohiuddin came out and told police that Waris is not present. He, however, was also taken to police station.

“He has been joined in the investigation because he was protecting his brother, who had been challaned earlier as well”, TPO Bhutto added.

He said that Javed had kept number plate in the pocket of his trousers.

After arresting Javed, police recovered the number plate of the bike, cellphone of Shoaib from his possession while bike was also found in his house.

Police claimed that one bike RNK-5449 was used in robbery while another bike (HDV-6449) lying in the house were also seized.

After preliminary interrogation police also rounded-up Adnan from his house.

The TPO said that Sajid and Kashif were residents of Korangi Karachi and a team, formed by DPO, had been sent for arresting them.

He said that Waris would also be arrested soon because his brother had been joined in the investigation.

Police recovered one pistol, and two live bullets from the house of Waris. A case vide FIR 45/06 under section 20-Haraba has been lodged with Site police on the complaint of Shoaib Badar.

Shoaib told police that Javed was not among those three gangsters, who had snatched his bike. However, he said, motorcycle was recovered from his house and he was found in possession of number plate and his cell phone.

BACHAT BAZAAR: Hyderabad DCO Mohammad Hussain Syed has directed officials concerned to set up two “Bachat Bazars” in the district to ensure supply of quality goods at reasonable prices as directed by the prime minister.

He was presiding over a meeting of senior officers in his office here on Monday.

He said that during Ramazan, prices of essential consumer items were usually increased to a level which was beyond the reach of the common man.

He said that the district government in cooperation with various organisations was trying to curb hoarding and profiteering.

He said that the setting up of two ‘Bachat Bazars’ in the district had become necessary to provide relief to people.
