Faisalabad dominate in U-19 cricket

LAHORE, Sept 28: Faisalabad dominated from the onset to take a 27-run lead against Hyderabad on the opening day of the three-day PCB Inter-region Under-19 cricket championship at Iqbal Stadium, Faisalabad on Thursday.

Leg-spinner Shoaib Shah (5-29) and fast bowler Waqas Maqsood (4-25) shared nine wickets between them as Hyderabad were bowled out for a paltry first-innings total of 126 in 42.1 overs. Only Noor Mohammad batted with some authority to hit 50.

Faisalabad finished the day at 153 for one in 38 overs with opener Ali Waqas (68 with 11 fours) and Mohammad Aamir (57 with four fours and one six) going great guns.

Our Sports Reporter adds from Karachi: Karachi Urban enjoyed a rare good day when they bowled out Rawalpindi for 213 in their first innings at the PCB Academy Ground.

Leg-spinner Shahzeb Khan led the Urban’s good performance with the ball with four for 64. He was ably supported by slow left-armer Ahmed Iqbal (3-54) and medium-pacer Zaheer Abbas (3-62).

Mohammad Ibrahim stroked eight fours in making 48.
