SIALKOT, Sept 29: The City District Government Sialkot has decided to provide transport facility to students of all boys and girls colleges in the district.

Sialkot District Nazim Muhammad Akmal Cheema disclosed this while addressing a meeting of the principlas of government colleges in Sialkot district here on Friday.

Mr Cheema said that the provision of transport facility to all government colleges would be a revolutionary step and it would help solve the transport-related problems of students, especially girl students. He said that most of girl students belonging to the rural areas were unable to come to urban area colleges owing to the transport problems.

He asked the principals to prepare road maps and transport routes to enable the maximum number of students to avail the facility. He said that the students had to pay a nominal token fee to avail the facility. He, however, said the deserving students would be exempted from token money.

He said the government had also contacted private transporters in this regard.

The meeting was told that there were 13 government boys and girls colleges in Sialkot district and 23,000 girl students and 16,000 boy students were studying in them.
