KARACHI, Sept 30: Pakistan number two Mansoor Zaman on Saturday asked the national squash governing body to organise more international events in the country to help home players improve their skills.

“More international events should be held in the country as they will give exposure to youngsters,” said Mansoor who had lost to Andrian Grant of England in the final of the Chief of Naval Staff International squash championship on Friday.

The world No. 31 from Quetta was of the view that the Pakistan Squash Federation could not afford to send all players abroad for international exposure and events like the CNS were good alternatives.

He said the major difference between the Pakistani and European players was squash league.

“Professional league improves one’s skills and therefore the Europeans have upper hand against us,” Mansoor said.

“We don't have a league system, neither all of us could go to Europe for the league, which I think is the main difference between the two regions,” a son of former squash player Qamar Zaman said while pressing the need for league squash in the country.

He further differentiated the two parts of the world on fitness grounds saying the Europeans always had an edge over their Pakistani rivals.

“They always have an edge in fitness and Adrian Grant defeated me on the same ground,” Mansoor said while referring to his CNS final loss.—PPI
