KHAIRPUR, Oct 1: President of People’s Party Parliamentarians, Sindh, Syed Qaim Ali Shah, said here on Sunday that the Sindh government had failed to get its crushing season schedule implemented in the province and added that late crushing of sugarcane would affect the growers.
Speaking at a meeting of PPP workers and delegation of sugarcane growers at Jilani house, he described it as the second major failure of government after non-provision of relief to rain-affected people.
He added that protests and hunger strikes by the growers against artificial shortage of irrigation water proved that government had decided to destroy agriculture sector in Sindh.
He said during last three years, government had set a record of registration of false cases in Khairpur district against growers due to political victimization.
Earlier, Qaim Ali Shah visited the Bakar Bozdar village, Kotdiji taluka on Saturday and met Sindh Graduates Association leader, Dr Wazir Bozdar and comrade Miran Bozdar, relatives of kidnapped landlord Mohib Ali Bozdar and his manager Juman Bhatti.
He said law and order situation in Sindh, particularly in Khairpur had become worse, as there is increase in robberies and other criminal activities.
He added that Mohib Ali was kidnapped 16 days ago and his family members were worried about their life while police had not taken any action.
He also visited the Raban Junejo Village near Khairpur and condoled with the relatives of three people who died in a community clash on September 21.
He deplored tribal clashes in district and said health and education system had completely collapsed in disputed areas where police could not visit and as a result development works and enrolment of voters had come to a halt.
The relatives of Junejo community men who died in the clash, complained that even though their community people were killed but police were taking action against them instead of arresting accused.
They said that police did not register their murder case.
