HYDERABAD, Oct 5: A team of surgeons on Thursday performed a rare operation on a two-day-old boy who had many congenital deformities.

The team was led by Dr Saleh Memon, chairman of the department of paediatric surgery of the Liaquat University of Medical and Health Sciences.

Other members of the team are: Dr Shahana, Dr Mohammad Ali Qureshi, Dr Ishtiaque Khattak, Dr Shajeel Shaikh, Dr Asif Rajput, Dr Farman Laghari and Dr Umer.

The child had three legs and the left leg was shorter than the right one.

The third leg was abnormal, short and located on the anal side.

There was no anal opening.

The baby boy had a small phallus and duplication of guts and duel appendix.

The surgeons removed the third leg and made an opening through colostomy.
