MULTAN, Oct 18: Over Rs2 billion will be spent on the construction of 18 roads, two under-passes and extension of 11 chowks in Multan city. City district nazim Mian Faisal Mukhtar told a meeting held at the office of the Multan Development Authority here on Wednesday.

All these projects will be completed in three years, he said and directed the planning and development department to send the plan for a final approval.

The nazim said that because of the lack of proper planning in the past, people of Multan were facing sewerage and traffic problems. He said the present government had decided to solve these problems and chalked out a three-year plan.

He said that according to the plan, two underpasses would be constructed —- one at Chungi 6 and the other at Kalma Chowk —- at a cost of Rs180 million. He said Rs 645 million would be spent on extension of Dehli Gate, Manzoorabad, MDA, Eidgaah, Kalma, Chungi No 6, Kashmir, Bohar Gate, Jinnah, Clock Tower and Takbir chowks. He also named the roads to be repaired or built under the plan.
