LAHORE, Oct 19: Chief Minister Pervaiz Elahi has approved introducing Rescue 1122 Service in Sahiwal and Rahim Yar Khan in response to a public demand from these cities.

In addition to these two districts, the service has already been approved for Multan, Bahawalpur, DG Khan and Faisalabad.

According to a news release, construction of rescue stations in these cities is expected to start soon after the availability of land for stations by the district governments and the service is likely to be functional in the cities by March next.

“These cities will have an infrastructure for emergency preparedness, response and prevention after establishment of the service and people of these cities will be provided a sense of safety by providing timely rescue and quality emergency care in case of emergencies”, said Punjab Emergency Service DG Dr Rizwan Naseer.

District emergency boards will also be constituted for emergency prevention for the development of state communities.

It may be mentioned that the expansion of Punjab Emergency Service (Rescue 1122) in Rawalpindi, Faisalabad, Gujranwala, Multan, Rahim Yar Khan, Bahawalpur, DG Khan, Sialkot and Murree is already underway after success of the service in Lahore.—APP
