NAWABSHAH, Oct 19: The district government of Nawabshah is working hard to provide basic amenities to people and solve their problems.
This was stated by District Nazim Faryal Talpur while talking to newsmen after inaugurating the Eidgah renovated at a cost of Rs3.6 million by the district government here on Thursday. She said that all departments of the district government were working smoothly.
She further said that making the Teachers Resource Centre more functional and establishment of adult literacy centres in all talukas of the district was among her priorities.
She said that the district government was providing development funds in all union councils without any discrimination.
She said that a committee was being constituted for the H. M. Khoja Museum and Library so more and more students could get benefit and availability of books be checked.
FOUR BOOKED: Four persons, including a councillor, were booked in a theft case on Thursday.
Mohammad Bilawal Rind of Linepar lodged an FIR under section 380, 454 of the PPC against Thomas Pervaiz Masih, a minority councillor, Imran, Soni and Mithi stating that these persons stole goods from his house.
No arrest was made till the filing of the report.
PCO OWNERS PROTEST: PCO owners of Nawabshah staged a demonstration outside the local press club against the closure of telecom service on Thursday.
Protesters were carrying placards and were raising slogans against a private telecommunication company.
Protesters, including Abdul Wahab, Tikka Khan, Abdul Majid and others told newsmen that the telecom company closed PCO line services of all PCOs of the city without any reason.
They said that they were in miserable conditions and families were starving.
They alleged that the company embezzled millions of rupees deposited by PCOs owners. They demanded justice from high-ups.
PROTEST: Members of the paramedical staff of the People’s Medical College on Tuesday observed a strike for acceptance of their demands.
They also staged a protest demonstration in the college premises.
Paramedical Staff Welfare Association president Feroze Gorchani led the protesters.
The protesters raised slogans against the college administration.
They called for setting up of union office in the girls’ college, refund of fined money imposed on members by the executive committee, inclusion of union members in purchase of uniforms and withdrawal of cancellation of increments.
They warned to continue protest if their demands were not accepted.
