JACOBABAD, Oct 29: The organiser of the Sindh chapter of Balochistan National Party, Mr Rahim Bux Jafri, has said that the rulers have deprived people of their basic rights by using dictatorial methods.

Addressing a press conference on Sunday Mr Jafri said that political activists who raised voice against injustices were systematically kidnapped. They were neither produced in a court nor were their whereabouts made public, he said.

He cited names of Rauf Sasoli, Asghar Bangulzai, Ghaffar Lango, Muneer Mengal, Saeed Bangulzai and Saleem Baloch who had gone missing for last many months. The slogans of moderation and freedom had proved hallow, he remarked.

The BNP leader charged that the rulers had usurped the resources of Sindh and Balochistan and referred to Gwadar and the sale of two islands without taking the Sindh government into confidence as the latest examples.

Mr Jafri said that Sindhis and Balochs were being converted into minorities by settling outsiders on their land and slammed government decision not to allow Benazir Bhutto and Mian Nawaz Sharif’s return to the country to take part in the forthcoming elections.

He said that the country direly needed a political struggle to get rid of dictatorship and suggested that the federation should retain only four subjects and had over the rest to the provinces.

To a question, he said that ARD should quit the parliament and added that the BNP’s stance was to resign collectively.

The BNP leader said that the grand alliance was need of the hour and his party would take part in the struggle launched against the rulers.
